Fátima
Revisited:
The Apparition Phenomenon in Ufology, Psychology and Science
Frank McGillion et al (2008)
An
academic analysis of the ‘miracles’ of Fatima, in Portugal, where, in 1917,
three peasant children reported a series of visions of the Virgin Mary over a
six-month period. These culminated on October 13th when tens of
thousands of people reportedly experienced a series of inexplicable
meteorological and atmospheric phenomena (including the solar disc moving freely
about the sky) collectively known as the “Miracle of the Sun.” Theories
concerning how such phenomena may have occurred, and their similarity to
contemporary and historical reports of other apparitional phenomena, are
discussed from a variety of perspectives.
